Incentive Based Pilot & Events Launched in Northern Nevada
Happy REFILL Year to All!!!
Always want to start with a big ‘Thank You’ to everyone supporting this glass bottle refillable marketplace pilot program! Our North Tahoe/Truckee collection numbers have been steady through the fall/early winter and we anticipate numbers to climb with the momentum of our Northern Nevada incentive based pilot and events in collaboration with the Great Basin Brewing Company.
To start, come join us for our Conscious Container ‘Beers 4 Bottles’ events and fundraisers hosted at Great Basin Brewing’s Taps & Tanks Production Brewery in Reno on Jan 25 & Feb 23!! Bring a 24 bottle case of empty 12oz brown long neck craft beer bottles for a FREE PINT of beer (21 years & older) and join us in this fundraiser for local non-profit Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful who are dedicated to creating a cleaner more beautiful region through education and active community involvement. Music, Raffles and Food & Beer for purchase are all ‘on-tap’ for this innovative event!
In addition to these events we also have our On-Going Incentivized Collection Pilot in collaboration with Great Basin Brewing. Save your 24 bottle case of empty 12oz brown long neck craft beer bottles and bring into either Great Basin Brewpub in Reno or Sparks to receive a $1 credit to be used at the Brewpub.
This pilot provides locals with another avenue to collect and contribute to ‘Refill Instead of Landfill’ throughout Northern Nevada!
California and Beyond…
Our North Tahoe/Truckee collection pilots continue to amaze… especially our Alpine Meadows community who continue to load the collection bin every week!! Our winterized collection bins are working well although our winter up here so far has been much milder than last year. We continue to collect all types of craft beer bottles in California and sort out the 12oz long neck bottles for refilling and all other craft beer bottles are taken to our local CRV redemption center for recycling. In Nevada there is no CRV so we can only accept the 12oz long neck craft bottles.
In other news, Conscious Container has been working with the State of California’s CalRecycle Green House Gas (GHG) Grant team to adjust grant language to allow ‘reuse/refillable’ businesses to apply for the GHG Fiber, Plastic and Glass grant, which previously was not possible. We are proud to say that final language was agreed to just this month and Conscious Container anticipates being able to applying for the next GHG grant cycle planned for 2018-19!!!
And finally, of great pride to Conscious Container is the acceptance of our ‘Building a Returnable Bottle Market’ proposal to be presented by a panel at the annual Craft Brewers Convention in Nashville early May. This event brings together craft brewers from across the nation, and the world! Our panel consists of key innovative players working on creating a refillables marketplace including the Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative, Bayern Brewing, Straub Brewing, glass maker Owens Illinois, and of course Conscious Container!!
You can follow Conscious Container’s collaborative journey through the social media platforms listed below. A tremendous thank you again for your continued engagement!! We are always interested in your feedback, suggestions and thoughts about refillables at firstname.lastname@example.org
